The early 1990s was a particularly busy period for the Canadian Armed Forces and its fleet of Boeing 707 transports (code named CC-137s). Under Saddam Hussein, Iraq invaded oil-rich Kuwait on August 1, 1991, and Canada played a key role in the multi-national coalition. This documentary DVD explains the 707’s key role in this conflict with exclusive never-before-seen broadcast footage.

From our base at Canada Dry 1 at Doha Airport, 24 combat-ready Canadian CF-18 “Desert Cats” were on strength along with a Canadian Armed Forces Boeing 707 tanker. We’ll join the crew on a 707 tanker flight to refuel several thirsty CF-18s over the Gulf. There’s plenty of action filmed on Doha’s busy apron, and we then join our troops for their 707 departures for Lahr, where a bagpipes welcome meets the men and women who served this country.

After the Gulf War, the Canadian Armed Forces 707s supported peace-keeping missions during the Yugoslav conflict, delivered humanitarian aid, and participated in CF-18 refueling exercises in Canada’s high Arctic. And it’s all presented on this DVD. Lastly we visit the NATO AWACS contingent at Geilenkirchen for some AWACs and 707 flights. Overall, a must-have DVD for 707 fans.
