This two volume set picks up where the now sold-out Volume 1 (1940s and 1950s) left off, as we continue our time travel look back at the formative and early days of air travel. The author spent the past thirty plus years sourcing random traveller Kodachrome slides depicting air travel when it was new and exciting, the domain of the affluent, when most people on the planet had not yet travelled by air. These were random colour slides taken by people whilst documenting their holidays, or meeting relatives at the airport, sometimes whilst marking a special travel occasion.

The images presented in these books were taken by air travellers who carried personal 35mm SLR cameras loaded with high quality 35mm colour Kodachrome slide film, and they snapped spontaneous images during all aspects of their air travel journeys in the 1960s.

By the 2020s, these old slides were obsolete. Most people under the age of 35 will have no idea what a Kodachrome slide is. These old slides are now largely buried deep in long lost and long forgotten family slide collections around the world, and in many cases such Kodachrome slide images were simply discarded to the sands of time as estates were liquidated when older family members passed on.

The author made one of his life callings to seek out, preserve and celebrate these amazing travel Kodachromes in these unique books. It takes ages to find these old slides, and no amount of money or budget can create such images to produce another one of these books in quick order. It is simply impossible.

This 2-volume set features all colour images taken around the world from airport observation decks, inside airport terminal buildings, boarding and deplaning airliners, on board showing the passenger cabins and cabin service and travel comforts of the day, wing views of airliners that were retired half a century ago, featuring the iconic airline branding and logos of many of the now defunct and long forgotten great airlines.

It did not make sense to squeeze all these fabulous 1960s Kodachrome travel images into one book, to do them all justice. It was a much better idea to present the decade of the 1960s as a 2-volume set, which allowed for many glorious Kodachrome images to be presented as full page bleed.

Reader comments from Volume 1 frequently expressed the great joy and time spent examining the background details of the amazing images.

Therefore, by presenting the images as large as possible in this 1960s 2-volume set, readers can soak up the image details in all their glorious splendour. Page after page, readers will relive their wonderful travel memories from more than half a century ago. This unique book series will transport the reader back in time like no other book ever published in the annals of aviation history.

Do not delay your purchase as this is a very limited production publication. Once it is sold out, it will be sold out forever.

Congratulations on publishing these additional volumes. These now proudly sit with Volume 1 in my aviation bookcase and will be most highly treasured and valued. I am absolutely awestruck with the contents, so many fabulous and nostalgic images. It is simply fantastic to see all these superb and iconic photographs for the first time. Will take me several weeks and months to fully absorb! Saw many of these airliners and liveries in my youth so all these voloumes certainly are Time Machines! Please add my name to your list for notification of release of Volume 4 which I will not hesitate to order when available; hopefully there might be a 5, 6  …..etc!

I received the two books yesterday; immediately flipped through the great historical images before starting to read Volume 2. Your books are distinctly one-of-a-kind. Thank you for having them published. Looking forward to any future book projects from you.

Hats odd to you and congratulations and I sure hope you sell out fast. I just love this series. It’s just so different than any other book just to see the people back then and what they wore and just the live photos, and variety of aircraft types. Bravo!

As if the books weren’t already good enough, they’re excellent, and what did I stumble upon. Non other than an American Airlines BAC 1-11-401AK.  As you may or may not remember, I flew N5034 in corporate use. It became VR-BHS then N333GB then cut up in San Antonio.

I just received my books and all I can say is “WOW”. These are fantastic !
From the majestic 707’s to the gorgeous Connie’s, you have done a fantastic job and I have just scratched the surface. I can’t wait until I find the love of my life… The Boeing 727. Thank you, thank you!

Henry: The two volumes arrived today (3/9/26) in excellent condition. From a quick review they appear to be outstanding (as usual!) I noticed that during the coverage (1960 through 1970) passengers dressed to a reasonable degree. I now see that many prefer to ware their PJs – both in  economy or first class. What  will they wear in the future?

I just received the books, everything went well with the delivery! I just can say WOW! Great books in superb quality with great pictures! I love it! Hopefully we will see a follow on book about the seventies. If so, I will surely order a copy! Thank you!

Your books arrived safely today.  I’ve already started reading them and found them to be a historical documentary, particularly thanks to your precise comments. I’m already looking forward to your next book and hope that you will one day publish the second volume of “From Lodestars to Jets.”
Florian Wagner

I received the books and they’re absolutely gorgeous – truly a labor of love. You certainly outdid yourself again and you brought back so many good memories. Thanks again for your great work.

Good morning Henry just wanted to let you know I received volume two and three a few days ago. They’re just as great as volume one. I’m looking forward to volume four. I like the photo on the back cover of volume three of the united 747 in delivery colors. I’m Amazed how you were able to preserve these slides and put them in a print form in a book collection.
Michael Costa

I’ve just received the 2 books and they are absolutely awesome! I have now the whole series, Volume 1, 2 and 3, as well as the TCA book and the Air-to-Air. Again, thank you and I’m looking forward for your next project.

The books arrived in good today, incredible. I’ve been going through them since I picked them up. They are excellent and a welcome companion set to the Volume 1 which I also still cherish. I can’t put them down. Looking through them brings back a lot of very early memories. I’m the same age as you are, and I remember how incredibly loud Viscounts and Vanguards were from the observation deck of the then new Edmonton International airport. The books brought that all back, memories of an entirely different world where progress still meant something good. Thank you very much for putting them together, they are absolutely wonderful, and if there’s a 4th volume for the 1970s, I want it!
