Footloose in The Philippines: Deregulation Start-Ups by Henry Tenby

Back in the mid 90s, I was intrigued by all the low cost airlines starting up in the Philippines soon after that country deregulated their airline industry.
So on Christmas Day, 1996, I boarded a Philippine Airlines MD-11 in Vancouver and flew over to Manila to check out the scene first hand.
During my visit I purchased flights on Cebu Pacific and rode their DC-9 down to Mactan Island in Cebu. I also flew on an Air Philippines NAMC YS-11 from Manila over to the old Clark Air Force Base airfield.
