In 1992, along with a friend I made a special trip down to South America specially to fly on the classic jetliners operated by the flag carrier of Paraguay, Lineas Aereas Paraguayas.

Our first leg was Toronto to Rio on a VARIG DC-10, where we purchased our LAP tickets for our circular route to Asuncion, Santiago and Buenos Aires which included flights on LAP’s DC-10, DC-8-63, and the main draw, their Boeing 707-320, which was a former Pan Am machine.

The entire journey was documented in great detail on the pages of the following article which appeared in Airliners magazine. Of course the LAP 707 and DC-8 operation is now ancient history, but this article takes us back to a time when such amazing journeys were still possible, for the motivated flight hounds of the day.
