Customer Reviews - Reeve Aleutian: On Board the Super Electra II Airline Profile Series Vol. 3 - Limited Edition DVD
RANDALL CIESZYNSKI SR., Manteno, IL, SEP 25, 2006:
Thoroughly enjoyed your DVD on the REEVE Lockheed Electra!!! Next best thing to being aboard!! I have never flown on an Electra, but feel like I have thanks to you.
STEVE HAFLING, Anchorage, USA, JUL 07, 2005:
The DVD of Reeve Aleutian arrived today just fine. Boy does this bring
back some great memories for me.
Flown Reeve Electra's and a couple of
other airlines in the past. Plus I live in the pattern of Anchorage
International. The more planes the better for me!
Take care and many thanks,
PAUL WALKER, USA, MAY 16, 2005:
I received the Reeve video yesterday, and enjoyed it very much! One item, and I'd imagine others have noted this, Reeve ceased ops in 12/2000, not 12/1999. I've seen this discrepancy elsewhere, and am concerned its going to be perpetuated. The Reeve Electras did make it into Y2K!
Much to my pleasure, I flew one of their flights in August, 2000. Of course, I didn't know at the time, how close the end would be. I flew Anchorage - Dillingham - St. George - St. Paul - Dillingham - Anchorage. (Flew on previous flights in 1990.) Thanks for helping preserve the memories!
PHILIP MILLS, Leopold, Vic., Australia, JUL 23, 2004:
Many thanks for the 2 Lockheed Electra L-188 DVD's which arrived safely today, such excellent prompt service!
They are a wonderful record of this most magnificent and beautiful aircraft and I can assure you will give me many more hours of enjoyment on repeat viewings.
My first flight on a "proper" plane was as a 16 year old on a QANTAS Electra, VH-ECB flying from Melbourne, Australia to Wellington, New Zealand in December, 1965, and return six weeks later.
The biggest thrill was being allowed to visit the cockpit for about 20 minutes, and getting the crew's autographs as we flew across the Tasman Sea. I had worked after school and Saturday mornings as a chemist's delivery boy for two years to save the fare!
Although I've since flown on different aircraft, it is the Electra that is so dear to my heart after all these years. And it saddens me to realize that I have missed the chance to ever fly, see or even hear an Electra again.
Can anything be more beautiful and distinctive than those big square-tipped props, the long engine covers running across the top of the wing, the big, black jet exhausts, and the sound of those Allisons singing? Yes I'll admit I'm somewhat biased!
And I'll also admit to being emotional and having to wipe the odd tear away while viewing these two fascinating DVDs, you don't know just how much they mean to me, for nearly forty years I've harboured a wish to relive that flight or even see an Electra again. Your DVDs are the next best thing.
Once again, many thanks for the great service, and also thank you for producing a lasting record of this most capable of planes.
